About Me
Dr. Alpana Garg is a board-certified physician in internal medicine and obesity medicine who began her medical training in 2006 and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology in India before moving to the United States to complete her internal medicine residency at Wayne State University in Detroit. For the past five years, she has cared for patients and taught future physicians at the University of Iowa while also completing her master's degree in public health to expand her focus on prevention and population health. Dr. Garg cares for patients with an emphasis on obesity management, chronic disease prevention and overall wellness, believing in listening closely to her patients, showing empathy and working together through shared decision-making to create care plans that fit their lives. In addition to patient care, she enjoys teaching and mentoring future physicians and is excited to bring her experience and dedication to her new role and to partner with patients in achieving their health goals.
