About Me

Dr. Nagaraja is a board certified Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for adults, children, adolescents and their families during times of acute psychiatric illness. Recognizing the essential role families and support systems play in recovery, Dr. Nagaraja emphasizes a collaborative, often family-centered approach that engages caregivers and guardians as partners in assessment, treatment planning and ongoing support. His practice integrates the latest research in psychopharmacology with individualized treatment recommendations, ensuring that medication decisions are thoughtful, evidence-based and tailored to each patient's unique needs and developmental stage. Dr. Nagaraja has a special interest in mood disorders and the treatment of ADHD in children.

He completed his adult residency and child fellowship at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. As a trainee, he was awarded the Carilion Shine Award, given to one trainee out of over three hundred for dedication to patient care. He has been recognized for his dedication to patients and their families during his time at CaroMont Health. His academic work has been presented at the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and published in the American Medical Association Journal of Ethics.
