Support Services

CaroMont Cancer Center recognizes that cancer can affect every aspect of a person’s life, and the journey can be very challenging for the patient and their loved ones. CaroMont Cancer Center offers a number of support services to assist you physically, psychologically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

Counseling Services

Our Oncology Counselor is available to assist the patient and their family in coping with the emotional and psychosocial effects of the cancer experience.

Nutritional Counseling

Nutrition services for cancer patients and survivors with expert advice from a registered dietitian with special training in oncology.

Pastoral Care

The Spiritual Care Department provides emotional and spiritual support to patients and families during their stay at the hospital. Services provided by the department include patient and family counseling, working with local pastors to meet patient needs and planning worship services.

Palliative Care

Many people with chronic illness suffer symptom burden that impacts their quality of life. In an effort to improve the care of patients CaroMont Regional Medical Center provides the services of the Quality Life Care team. One of our goals is to help patients with the elimination or lessening of their symptoms. Patient’s that benefit from Quality Life Team involvement are those with cancer and other chronic diseases. The team works with physicians, professional staff involved in the patients care and the patient’s family. The plan of care is individualized for the patient and incorporates cultural/spiritual needs.

End of Life Care

Should a patient be in need of End of Life care, nursing staff has received extensive training on this stage of care by attending the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC). The ELNEC core curriculum provides end-of-life education for practicing nurses focusing on pain and symptom management, communication, grief, loss and bereavement.
