Third Trimester | Week 28 - Delivery
What to Expect
- You will have prenatal visits every two weeks from 28 weeks to 35 weeks
- After 35 weeks we will see you every week until delivery
- Depending on risk factors, we typically let you carry until 41 weeks (one week past your due date) as long as there are no complications
- If you are 41 weeks and have not delivered, we will discuss scheduling an induction of labor
Medical Monitoring
Lab Work
At 36 weeks you will have more lab work that includes:
- Repeat CBC (complete blood count)
- Repeat HIV testing
- Urinalysis
- Group B strep swab
- This is a vaginal and rectal swab that tests for a common bacterium
- If positive, you will receive antibiotics during labor and delivery
