High School Students

CaroMont Health Career Club

CaroMont Health Career Club gives high school students the opportunity to learn about careers in healthcare, through activities, simulations, community service and presentations led by medical professionals.

  • Students must be in high school. 
  • CaroMont Health Career Club meets one evening per month from October to April on the campus of CaroMont Regional Medical Center. The meetings last from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 
  • Dues are $40/year which includes a t-shirt, snacks at each meeting, and an end-of-year party.
    Children of CaroMont Health employees receive a discounted rate of $30/year (badge must be presented). Dues will be collected via check made out to CaroMont Health or cash at the first meeting.
  • Registration will open in September and close one week prior to the first meeting. The registration link will be posted below during the registration window. The first 50 students to register will be accepted. We will maintain a waitlist and notify waitlisted students of acceptance after the second meeting.

Community Service Project 

In groups of 5-10, complete a service project at one of our partner organizations. Project must be a minimum of 4 hours of service. Projects will be presented to the club at the final meeting. 

One 4-hour project 

Volunteer at CaroMont Health 

Complete 16 hours per semester of volunteer service at CaroMont Health Regional Medical Center or any CaroMont Health facility (Four 4-hour shifts). One role will be assigned in the Fall and an alternative role will be assigned in the Spring. Application required.

CaroMont Health Sciences Academy

The CaroMont Health Sciences Academy at East Gaston High School is a partnership between Gaston
County Schools, Gaston College, and CaroMont Health. The Health Sciences Academy is designed to
provide students with the skills and knowledge they need for a solid foundation for success in the health services field. Students enrolled in this program will have access to exclusive programs and opportunities

Student Athletic Trainer Program

At each Gaston County High School, students 9th grade and up have the opportunity to work under the school Athletic Trainer at practices and sporting events. There is a mandatory four-day training in July prior to each school year. For more information, please contact the Athletic Trainer at your Gaston County High School.
