Pharmacy Residency Program

Thank you for considering our residency programs. We strive to be a well-rounded community hospital program with a focus on creating strong, diverse pharmacist clinicians by customizing our curriculum to meet the individual’s needs.

CaroMont Regional Medical Center, a part of CaroMont Health, is a 435-bed community hospital that serves a diverse patient population and currently offers two residency training programs. Our pharmacy-forward model of practice provides the pharmacy resident with a high level of autonomy while our dedicated preceptors guide them throughout their professional growth.

Please review our program materials to see if one of our programs if the right match for the next step in your professional development. We wish you the best of luck in your residency search and pharmacy career.

Sincerely,

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

The ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at CaroMont Regional Medical Center began in 1996 and now offers three positions each residency year. During the year our residents receive training in the community hospital setting while working with experienced preceptors who mentor the residents and challenge the residents to achieve their individual professional goals.

The purpose of the CRMC PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency

The ASHP-accredited PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency at CaroMont Regional Medical Center began in 2010 with one resident and now educates two residents yearly in this specialized area of pharmacy practice.

The purpose of the CRMC PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
