CaroMont Health Launches Cares Campaign to Expand Healthcare Workforce in the Region
CaroMont Health recently celebrated the official kick-off of the CaroMont Health Cares Campaign, a scholarship initiative designed to increase access to healthcare education and career training for students. The campaign has set an ambitious goal of raising $15 million to fund scholarships and additional career development programs, with more than $10.6 million raised to date.
The celebration brought together community leaders, healthcare professionals and local stakeholders to mark what many in attendance called a turning point for healthcare access and workforce development in Gaston County. Among those honored at the event were the inaugural class of Cares Scholars including Sara Scoggins, Eli Johnson, Donna Burnett and Eevie Johnson. Each have received scholarships supporting their pursuit of licenses and professional certifications needed to begin or advance their careers in healthcare, as well as individualized mentoring resources and personalized career support.
“The momentum behind the Cares Campaign reflects something CaroMont Health has always believed: that Gaston County's greatest asset is its people,” stated Mary Grace Bean, Director of the CaroMont Health Foundation. “The CaroMont Health Cares Campaign aims to remove financial barriers that have historically limited access to healthcare careers. We are working proactively by partnering with local academic institutions to collaborate and cultivate a diverse pipeline of talent across our region. Through a network of education and training partnerships, the campaign aims to enrich motivated individuals with the resources and credentials needed to enter or advance in the healthcare field.”
With over 70 percent of its $15 million goal already secured, the Cares Campaign is poised to make an immediate and lasting impact on healthcare in the region. By cultivating a pipeline of trained, compassionate caregivers, the initiative lays the groundwork for a sustainable standard of excellent, compassionate care well into the future.
