Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center to Join CaroMont Health

Building on nearly 75 years of collaboration and shared community commitment, the providers and staff of Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center (COSMC) will join CaroMont Health on June 1, 2026.

Throughout their shared history, COSMC and CaroMont Health have worked side by side to deliver advanced orthopedic, sports medicine and surgical care. Both organizations share a deep commitment to Gaston County and surrounding communities, so this is a natural next step to deepen collaboration and proactively embrace the evolving landscape of healthcare.

As part of this transition, a new practice – CaroMont Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center – will be established and operate as part of the CaroMont Medical Group network. All COSMC physicians will officially join CaroMont Health as employed providers, while continuing their practices and long-standing relationships with patients. Other clinical providers and staff members will be offered opportunities within the new practice or across CaroMont Health that align with their skills, career goals and personal circumstances.

Patients can expect continuity throughout this transition. There will be no disruption to care, treatment plans or provider relationships, and patients will continue seeing the same trusted physicians they have relied on for years. At the same time, patients will benefit from CaroMont Health's expanded resources and coordinated care across all modalities.

This move will enhance orthopedic and sports medicine services across the region, creating the most comprehensive and connected program in the community. By bringing together clinical expertise, advanced surgical capabilities and system-wide support, CaroMont Health and the joining providers are strengthening orthopedic care for the future.
