Honoring Our Nurses: A Message from Beth Canipe, Chief Nursing Officer of CaroMont Health
To the more than 1,700 nurses at CaroMont Health, it is an honor to wish you a happy National Nurses Day. Every day, I watch you work together to care for our community with compassion, conviction and expertise. I am proud to be a CaroMont Health nurse, and I’m even more proud to work alongside each of you.
The American Nurses Association’s theme, The Power of Nurses, couldn't feel more fitting. Nurses hold a singular ability to change the course of someone's life, sometimes in a single conversation, sometimes across weeks of care. You shape how patients experience their most frightening moments, how families find their footing in the unknown, and how healthcare itself evolves. That influence is not incidental to this work – it is the work – and no one exercises it with more skill, more consistency or more heart than the nurses of CaroMont Health.
This past year, we have worked together to accomplish so much in support of nursing practice and high reliability. We established new pillars to nursing excellence, a framework that defines what exceptional nursing looks like at CaroMont Health and gives every nurse at every level room to grow and thrive. We invested deliberately in our newest nurses, building the kind of onboarding and support that helps them find their footing and their confidence. We invested equally in our most experienced nurses, creating space for deep specialty development and recognizing that advanced expertise is one of our greatest strengths. I believe strongly that a nursing community is only as strong as its commitment to growth at every stage, and we are working to honor that commitment.
I am also excited about the work we have done with our Information Technology partners to bring AI tools into clinical practice in meaningful ways. From technology that helps predict and prevent patient falls, to solutions that make nursing documentation and end-of-shift summaries more efficient, these are direct investments in giving you more time and mental energy for patient care and connection. We will keep building on this, because you deserve tools that work as hard as you do.
What grounds all this work is quality and the profound impact it has on our patients. Our outcomes reflect your precision, your vigilance and your unwillingness to settle. Nurses drive quality at CaroMont Health, and I’m proud that each of you deeply understands your role in this critical work. Beyond the bedside, nursing has a seat at the table in the decisions that shape this health system. Embedded in our service lines and present in our strategic conversations, our collective voice helps shape the future of the health system.
Today and throughout CARES Week, I hope you feel the weight of what you have built and the pride that comes with it. The work you do is meaningful in ways that extend far beyond any single shift or any single patient. It shapes the health of this community and the character of our organization.
Thank you for showing up — for your patients, for each other and for our community — and for making CaroMont Health a place where exceptional, compassionate and highly reliable care is something people can count on, every time.
With deepest appreciation,
Beth Canipe MSN, RN, NEA-BC
Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer
