CaroMont Health Breaks Ground for New Primary and Urgent Care Office in Cherryville

CHERRYVILLE, N.C.— In partnership with the City of Cherryville, CaroMont Health kicked off construction for a new facility that will relocate CaroMont Family Medicine and open CaroMont Urgent Care. The new, 7,600-square-foot facility is scheduled to open by summer 2022 at 901 E. Church Street in Cherryville and will offer primary care and extended-hours urgent care.

“We are very pleased to get this project underway in Cherryville,” said Ryan Campbell, Vice President for medical group operations at CaroMont Health. “Cherryville is an important location not only for our medical group network, but also for patients in the area. Pairing existing primary care services with extended-hours urgent care will help ensure patients receive exceptional care without having to drive out of town.”

The combination of primary care and urgent care is not a new concept for CaroMont Health. This dual-service model is well established in offices in Gastonia, Dallas, Cramerton and Belmont. CaroMont Family Medicine will continue to offer primary care services for patients of all ages and CaroMont Urgent Care will offer flexible care options for urgent medical issues. Dr. Rebecca Love, board certified in family medicine, and Billie Jo Dagenhart, nurse practitioner, will lead the team of highly-skilled care providers, with plans to add additional medical providers in the future.

“I was elated when I learned CaroMont Health had procured this property with plans to build a new facility in Cherryville,” said H.L. Beam, Mayor for the City of Cherryville in his remarks. “Citizens of Cherryville have had to travel to neighboring locations for urgent care services, and I thank CaroMont Health for bringing this project to fruition.”

Mayor Beam’s praise for the project was echoed by Mr. Jeffrey Cash, Vice Chair of the CaroMont Health Board of Directors.

“As we break ground today, we are building more than a doctor’s office, more than an urgent care,” said Cash. “We are continuing to build a partnership that provides residents of Cherryville and communities all around the area access to truly exceptional health care.”

While the new practice will open in summer 2022, patients won’t have to wait that long for urgent care in Cherryville. Beginning in December, CaroMont Family Medicine will expand to offer urgent care services in the current office at 120 South Mountain Street. This will include extended hours for the treatment of minor illness and injuries, like colds, ear infections and sprained ankles. The practice will also offer on-site x-ray and laboratory testing, including COVID-19 testing, as well as online reservations and walk-in appointments.
