Wayne F. Shovelin Scholarship
A Legacy of Excellence
Established in 2009 through a gift from Duke and Dot Kimbrell, the Wayne F. Shovelin Scholarship honors former CaroMont Health CEO Wayne F. Shovelin. The scholarship is awarded competitively to students in Gaston County and the CaroMont Health service area, as well as CaroMont Health employees, who are pursuing a health-related career. During 23 years of leadership, Mr. Shovelin invested in technology and facilities and built a workplace that drew outstanding healthcare talent to the region. The fund carries that work forward by supporting tomorrow’s healthcare professionals.
